READING
Bud, Not Buddy
We are currently reading Christopher Paul Curtis' Newberry Award-winning novel, Bud, Not Buddy. Sixth graders are exploring how the social and economic climates of Bud's 1936 story shape his experiences. Likewise, we will continue to think about how the people, places, and experiences that fill our lives shape us!
Wonder
In 6th grade, we began the year by reading R. J. Palacio's novel, Wonder: a story about a boy who is judged by his unusual appearance, but is perfectly relatable on the inside. We analyzed how people view situations differently based on the experiences they have had. We also focused on the Wonder campaign slogan: Choose Kind.
Check out R.J. Palacio's interview where she explains how she came up with the idea for Wonder and why she was so inspired to finish the book!
